As the Master, the CI867AK01 module is equipped with powerful master logic and can manage up to 256 MODBUS transactions. The 3BSE092689R1 can automatically handle complex tasks such as polling, timeout retry, and error diagnosis, liberating engineers from the cumbersome low-level communication programming.

As a Slave, it provides standard MODBUS register mapping, making the data of the AC 800M clearly visible to any standard MODBUS client and greatly simplifying the integration with third-party systems.

Advanced system integration features

Seamlessly integrated into the AC 800M architecture, the CI867 module exchanges data with the AC 800M CPU via the high-speed CEX bus, with extremely low communication latency. Sharing the same spare parts, diagnostic tools and software update paths with the AC 800M system simplifies the operation and maintenance management of the factory.

Disadvantage

The platform locks that this module can only be used in ABB's AC 800M system. In an automation project that is not ABB, the CI867AK01 is completely ineffective.

3BSE092689R1 only supports MODBUS TCP. If there are other protocols on site, additional dedicated communication modules or external protocol gateways are required, which increases costs and complexity.

As an original factory-specific module, its procurement cost is usually higher than that of the commonly used MODBUS TCP gateway in the market.

Relying on specific software, configuration must be carried out using ABB's Control Builder. There is a learning curve for engineers who are not familiar with this tool.
