Product Overview
The 3500/60 & 61 modules provide six channels of temperature monitoring and accept both Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) and Thermocouple (TC) temperature inputs. The modules condition these inputs and compare them against user-programmable alarm setpoints.
The 3500/60 and 3500/61 provide identical functionality except that the 3500/61 provides recorder outputs for each of its six channels while the 3500/60 does not.
Precautions for use
Strictly regulate wiring and grounding
Single-ended grounding, To prevent signal noise and ground loop interference, the shielding layer of the sensor cable must be single-ended grounded, and the grounding resistance is usually required to be less than 1Ω. Stay away from power lines: Temperature signal lines should avoid running parallel to high-power power cables. It is recommended to keep a distance of more than 50cm or install metal tubes for shielding.
Note that electrical isolation and version distinction
The 3500/61 module has two versions: non-isolated and isolated (TC isolated). If the non-isolated version is used, all input/output sides need to share the same ground reference point to avoid false operation caused by ground potential difference. If the isolated version is used, it usually can provide up to 250Vdc inter-channel isolation, which can better protect the system from external strong electrical interference. Before wiring, be sure to confirm the specific version of the module.
High redundancy configuration requirements
If your system adopts a triple module redundancy (TMR) configuration to enhance safety, 3500/61 temperature monitors must be installed in adjacent groups of three in the rack. The system will ensure the accuracy of the measurement and avoid single points of failure through specific voting logic.
Adaptability to operating and maintenance environments
The 3500/60&61 module is typically designed for harsh industrial environments, with an operating temperature range usually between -30°C and +65°C. However, it is still necessary to ensure that the installation environment meets its protection grade requirements. Hot-swapping function: The 3500 system typically supports hot-swapping of modules, which means that faulty modules can be replaced even when the system is not powered on, significantly reducing downtime for maintenance. However, before performing any wiring or plugging and unplugging operations, it is still recommended to strictly follow the on-site safety operation procedures.
If you encounter signal fluctuations or abnormal module status lights during on-site debugging, it is recommended that you first check the grounding condition of the wiring shielding layer and whether the configuration parameters in the software are consistent
Applications
In the power generation industry, among various types of power plants, 3500/61 is a key component that ensures the safe operation of core equipment.
It is widely used in coal-fired, gas-fired and nuclear power plants
For real-time monitoring of the temperature of key parts such as bearings and windings of steam turbine generator sets.
Hydroelectric power plants, monitor the operating temperature of large hydroelectric generating units.
Electrical equipment monitoring, for precise monitoring of the temperature of critical electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, and cables to prevent equipment damage or safety accidents caused by overheating.
Oil, Gas, and Chemical Industry
This is one of the most important application areas for the 3500/61, used to prevent mechanical failures and unplanned shutdowns caused by excessive temperature:
Large unit protection, for close monitoring of the operating temperature of centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, pump sets, and gas turbines.
Pipelines and production facilities, for monitoring the temperature of various pumps, compressors, and pipelines in oil and gas production facilities to ensure the safety and efficiency of production processes.
Chemical production processes, for monitoring the temperature of various reaction vessels, storage tanks, and process equipment in complex chemical reactions and production processes to safeguard safe production. The Marine & Ocean Engineering 3500/61 module is designed to comply with multiple international maritime standards, such as the DNV GL Classification of Ships and Marine Units (CSU) and ABS Steel Ship Specifications, making it ideal for use in harsh marine environments:
Marine Propulsion Systems, monitors the temperature of ship engines, propulsion motors, and gearboxes.
Offshore platform equipment
Used for temperature monitoring and protection of key rotating equipment in offshore drilling platforms and production facilities.
