Principle of use

Signal conversion and output: The controller (such as AC 800M) sends digital instructions to the AO801 module via Modulebus.

The internal DAC (digital-to-analog converter) of ABB AO801 3BSE020514R1 converts the digital signal into an analog current signal of 0–20 mA or 4–20 mA, which is output to the field device through the MTU (module terminal unit).

Self-diagnosis and protection: ABB AO801 3BSE020514R1 periodically performs self-tests to detect faults such as short circuits and overloads, and indicates the operating/fault status through the status LED (S light).
