Product Features

Allen Bradley 1769-OA16 features 16 output points, divided into 2 groups (8 points per group), supporting 120/240V AC load control. It employs bidirectional triacs as switching elements, eliminating issues related to mechanical contact wear.

Allen Bradley 1769-OA16 incorporates surge suppression functionality to minimize the impact of high-voltage transients on the module. When controlling inductive loads, it is recommended to connect an external surge suppressor to extend the lifespan of the triacs.

Allen Bradley 1769-OA16 features optical isolation design, separating the logic circuit from the high-voltage field circuit to enhance interference resistance. The triacs switch at the zero-crossing point of the AC power supply, reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and voltage spikes.

Each output point corresponds to an independent indicator light, supports overcurrent protection, which can limit the impact of leakage current by paralleling load resistors. It features removable terminal blocks, supporting DIN rail or panel mounting, with modules mechanically locked together via a tongue-and-groove structure.


Product Working Principle

The controller sends control signals to the module via an integrated communication bus, and the logic circuit drives the thyristor to turn on or off.

The thyristor switches states at the zero crossing point of the AC voltage, reducing electromagnetic interference and voltage surges during the switching process.

When turned on Allen Bradley 1769-OA16 provides a 120/240V AC power supply to the external load. When turned off, the current is cut off via optical isolation to prevent leakage current from affecting the load status.

In case of overcurrent, the internal circuit limits the current. Leakage current can be suppressed using parallel resistors (15 kW/2W for 120V AC and 5 kW/5W for 240V AC).
