Product Features

Allen Bradley 1784-PCIC supports two connection methods: one is to connect directly to the ControlNet network via the BNC interface (Channel A and Channel B). The other is to connect to other ControlNet devices in the network via the RJ-45 interface of the Network Access Port (NAP) using a 1786-CP dedicated cable.

Allen Bradley 1784-PCIC supports redundant media. If the network uses a redundant cable system, Channel A and Channel B can each be connected to two cables to enhance communication reliability. In a non-redundant system, only Channel A needs to be connected.

Allen Bradley 1784-PCIC is equipped with LED indicator lights (Channels A and B), which can be used to determine the device's power supply, driver status, network faults, etc., based on the light's status (constant on, flashing, alternating).

Allen Bradley 1784-PCIC is sensitive to static electricity, so anti-static procedures must be followed during operation (using a grounding wrist strap, discharging by touching a grounded object, avoiding touching connector pins and so on).


Product Working Principle

Insert Allen Bradley 1784-PCIC communication Interface card into an available PCI slot (not PCI Express) on the computer, secure it with screws, and connect to the network (via the BNC interface to the ControlNet network or via the 1786-CP cable to network devices).

Install the corresponding driver for your operating system (driver files are located in the \Drivers directory on the dedicated CD). For initial installation or driver updates, follow the steps in the documentation (specify the driver path via “Device Manager”).

Configure the ControlNet driver using RSLinx software (specify network address, device serial number, etc.), or configure the virtual backplane driver using the SoftLogix chassis monitor (applicable to SoftLogix5800 controllers).

The computer exchanges data with devices on the ControlNet network via this card, supporting functions such as programming terminal access, device monitoring, and data acquisition.
