BOTH the ABE040 and the ABE042 rack are supplied. These two are practically the samething, the only difference is where the mounts are. Both racks are 6U in height and features mounting positions (slots) up to 15 slim cards, or the combination of slim and fat line cards. This is especially useful in an industrial environment, where devices need to be permanently mounted in 19″ cabinets and panels.
This rack contains a built-in VME backplane that carries the electrical interconnections between the installed cards (power supply, signal processing, data acquisition, input /output, CPU and relay). It also comprises a power supply check relay mounted at the rear of the rack and is simply indicating the operating status of the power supplies mounted on it.
A system rack can have one or two RPS6U power supplies. This is why a rack can have 2 RPS6U units; one use for that RPS6U could be to give power to a fully populated rack of cards in an non-redundant way and the other use for that RPS6U could be to give power to a rack of cards in a redundant way.
If one RPS6U fails, the other RPS6U will share 100% of the load and the rack will be uninterrupted.
