Usage Parameters

Sensor Input: EPRO MMS6220 has two independent eddy current measurement chain signal inputs, which can monitor two different axes or positions at the same time. The dual-channel design is designed to continuously monitor more than one axis or position, providing a wider range of monitoring capabilities and richer analysis data.

Measurement Range: The measurement range is 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.2 inches), covering a wide enough range to satisfactorily detect the shaft eccentricity common in most industrial rotating machinery. Because it has a wide measurement range, it can monitor any degree of eccentricity, from small eccentricity of micro displacement to larger offset.

Accuracy: EPRO MMS6220 can achieve an accuracy of ±2% of full scale - this is a huge accuracy range that can be measured quickly and reliably within the operating tolerance range. Any change in any direction within the tolerance range of shaft eccentricity can be profitable as early as possible, which means that maintenance measures can be taken early and costly equipment failures can be prevented.

Resolution: The resolution level of 0.1 µm (0.000004 in) is very good, producing data that is so fine that a great deal of detailed analysis of axis motion can be performed. This resolution is critical because it will allow the monitoring system to catch signs of mechanical defects, such as vibration or displacement - warnings that often do not appear before damage occurs.

Frequency Range: The frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz enables the device to capture all vibrations and oscillations present in the monitored machine. With a wide mix of frequencies, extensive monitoring allows for better observation of other phenomena, such as low- and high-frequency disturbances.

Data Outputs: The EPRO MMS6220 provides a voltage output for each channel, representing the amplitude of the signal from the sensor. The analog value of this output can be absorbed by most other monitoring and control systems for further processing and analysis.

Alarm Outputs: There are two configurable alarm outputs that trip when the measured value exceeds a preset limit: one for the left channel and one for the right channel. The alarm triggers an alert (either for the operator or the automated control system) to ensure that the final limit rises during the continuous operation of the equipment without entering a region that damages its components.

Communication: It has RS-485 Modbus RTU communication protocol, which can be easily integrated with industrial automation networks. Remote monitoring, configuration and data acquisition ensure that the entire monitoring process is more efficient and flexible.

Power supply: It is powered by 24 VDC, a voltage that exists in most industrial sites and is easy to find anywhere. The stable power supply guarantees the regularity and continuity of the operation of EPRO MMS6220.

Product Features

Dual-channel monitoring: With the practical function of online continuous monitoring of two actual axes, EPRO MMS6220 is a very suitable tool to meet applications with multiple rotating elements. Therefore, multi-dimensional performance monitoring of turbomachinery (such as turbines with one or more shafts or motors switched under various loads) will produce a more accurate indication of the overall health of the machine.

Eddy current sensor technology: With the introduction of eddy current sensors, EPRO MMS6220 can provide high sensitivity and accuracy for shaft displacement and vibration measurement. Eddy current sensors are non-contact sensors that are able to work under harsh working conditions and confirm accurate measurement of very small shaft displacements. As such, they are untouchable in industrial applications that demand accuracy and reliability.

Real-time Monitoring: The EPRO MMS6220 continuously collects and analyzes data, providing real-time information on shaft eccentricity. Real-time monitoring can quickly detect potential problems, allowing operators to take action to resolve the issue - even before it escalates into a major problem. Real-time monitoring helps optimize performance and improve the efficiency of rotating machinery, allowing operators to adjust operating parameters based on current conditions. Programmable Alarms: Programmable alarm outputs are able to be customized to a given requirement, meeting the specific alarm needs of a device based on its criticality and acceptable eccentricity levels. This ensures that operators are promptly alerted in the event of any abnormal conditions, minimizing the risk of equipment damage and production downtime.

Predictive Maintenance: The data recorded by the EPRO MMS6220 can in turn be used to develop a predictive maintenance plan. By analyzing the trend of shaft eccentricity over time, changes in shaft eccentricity can be predicted. Maintenance personnel can estimate when maintenance may be required, thus completing scheduled maintenance before a failure occurs. This ensures that downtime is minimized and maximizes the life of the equipment by reducing maintenance costs.

Recording and storage: This provides a record of startup and shutdown characteristic values that can be used for trend analysis and fault diagnosis. By collecting long-term data, it is possible to gain insight into the behavior of the machine over the years, thereby identifying upcoming problems and helping to optimize maintenance plans.

Self-diagnosis function: The EPRO MMS6220 performs self-diagnosis on its electronic circuits and sensors to ensure normal operation and accuracy. This self-diagnosis function can easily identify internal faults or failures, thereby reducing the chance of false alarms and ensuring system reliability.

Application Scope

The EPRO MMS6220 is widely used in various monitoring of the health and performance of rotating machinery in multiple industries. Its main applications include:

Power generation: In power plants, it is used to monitor the shafts of turbines, generators and other large rotating machinery. Continuous watchdog monitoring of shaft eccentricity in power generation systems can improve operational reliability, avoid unexpected downtime, improve maintenance planning, and thus increase the productivity and availability of power generation facilities.

Oil & Gas: The oil and gas industry uses the EPRO MMS6220 for monitoring pumps, compressors, and other rotating machines involved in extraction, processing, and transportation operations; this can detect potential problems in advance, reducing the risk of equipment failures that could have serious consequences for production and the environment.
