1. GE IC754VSI12CTD allows engineers to use GE Proficy Machine Edition (ME) HMI software to create graphical applications on a PC, which includes designing operator screens, defining communication tags with the PLC, configuring alarms, data logging, trending, security permissions, and more.
2. Set the communication parameters (protocol, port, station number, baud rate, etc.) between the HMI and the target PLC in the software, GE IC754VSI12CTD supports a wide range of protocols and integrates well with GE PLCs (90-30, RX3i, VersaMax PLCs, etc.) in particular, as well as common protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP for connecting to other brands of PLCs.
3. GE IC754VSI12CTD can download the compiled HMI runtime application (.MER file) to the Flash memory of IC754VSI12CTD via Ethernet or serial port (usually COM2).
4. After the HMI is powered up, the stored application program is loaded and run, the HMI actively polls or passively receives data from the PLC via the serial port (COM1) or the Ethernet port (ETH1), depending on the configuration.
5. Process data (values, status lights, bar graphs, trend graphs, etc.) are displayed on the touch screen. The operator sends commands or set values to the PLC by touching buttons, input fields, and other elements.
6. GE IC754VSI12CTD receives alarm messages triggered internally by the PLC or HMI and displays and records them, and can store data records via CF card.
