This module is not installed in the I/O packages close to the field equipment, but is specifically deployed in the local cabinets of Mark VIe Workstations or engineer stations located in the secure area. Its core mission is to provide controlled direct current power for the critical network devices connected to the operator station and to monitor the health status of the entire operator station network link in real time.

As the cornerstone of the human-machine interaction (HMI) and engineering maintenance functions of the Mark VIe system, the WNPS card ensures that operators and engineers can continuously and reliably access the control system. It provides hardware-level, independent of operating system and upper-level software, network status indications and triggers hard-wired alarms when faults are detected, thereby ensuring the safe operation and efficient maintenance of the factory.

Dual redundant power input and seamless switching functions ensure uninterrupted power supply for the critical Ethernet switch, which is a prerequisite for the continuous online operation of the operator station.

Hardware-level network health sentinel

The WNPS card provides a network status monitoring mechanism that is independent of the operating system and upper-level software. Even if the Windows system of the operator station crashes, the network card driver fails, or the HMI software is unresponsive, WNPS can accurately reflect the connectivity of the underlying physical network through its dry contact output.

Simplifying alarms and diagnostics

Its dry contact output can be directly connected to the factory's Master Alarm Annunciator or a higher-level monitoring system. When the operator station network fails, the control room will immediately receive a global hardware alarm stating "XX operator station network failure".

Enhancing overall system reliability

In the overall architecture of Mark VIe, WNPS fills the reliability gap on the operator station side. The IS200WNPSH1AAA complements the EPSM on the I/O package side and jointly forms an end-to-end, multi-level network health monitoring system from the controller, I/O to the operator station.
