Product Description

Product Overview

IS200WREAH1ACB is a Turbine Emergency Trip Interface Board designed by GE Energy for the Mark VIe gas/turbine steam turbine control system.

This is a sub-board card installed in the PPRA enclosure. It is usually used in conjunction with the main processor board TREA as a partner board card.

In the TMR or Dual architecture of Mark VIe, the WREA board card is responsible for processing the hard-wired trip signals from the site and directly driving the trip relay to cut off the fuel supply, serving as the last line of defense for protecting the unit's safety.

Product Function Features

The IS200WREAH1ACB board card is specifically designed to receive "dry contact" or "wet contact" signals from the site. When a dangerous signal is detected, it will immediately physically cut off the power supply to the fuel cutoff valve and execute an emergency shutdown.

It uses industrial-grade components and has anti-electromagnetic interference capabilities, ensuring stable operation in environments with high turbine vibration and high electromagnetic noise.

The board card usually has LED indicators to display the power status, operation status, and specific trip input status detection.

As part of the PPRA module, the combination of WREA and TREA realizes the separation of the processor and interface, facilitating maintenance and replacement.

The design follows the fault safety principle. Once the board card loses power or malfunctions, it usually triggers a safety mechanism to prevent the occurrence of danger.

Actual usage case

A crisis in a combined-cycle power plant

At night, the power plant's load was low and the units were in a low-speed turning gear state. Suddenly, due to a fault in the lubrication system, the temperature sensor of the turbine bearing showed that the temperature soared to 120℃ within 0.5 seconds. The IS200WREAH1A board card installed in the PPRA module of the Mark VIe cabinet. The temperature switch acted, closing the dry contact signal and transmitting it to the input channel of the WREA board card. WREA passed the signal to the TREA processor. The TREA logic judged it as an emergency shutdown and immediately issued an action command to WREA. The relay inside the WREA board card acted, cutting off the power supply to the electromagnetic coil of the fuel cutoff valve. The unit safely shut down within 2 seconds, avoiding major equipment accidents such as bearing burnout and rotor bending.

Installation Guide

Warning! Before installation, make sure to turn off the power or confirm that hot swapping is supported. When installing in HazLoc, comply with explosion-proof regulations.

Steps

Wear an anti-static wrist strap.

Align the board card with the rails of the PPRA chassis and push it in smoothly until the connectors are fully engaged.

Tighten the Ejectors at both ends of the board card to ensure a good contact between the board card and the Backplane.

Connect the on-site signal lines to the corresponding terminal blocks of the WREA board card.

After powering on, observe the LED indicators on the board card. PWR should be a constantly on green light, OK should be a green flashing light, and TRIP should be off.
